Tentothe

Privacy policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

In short

Tentothe works without an account. We keep the minimum needed to run the game: an anonymous player id and your guesses. No advertising, no ad trackers, no data sales.

Who is responsible

The operator of Tentothe is the controller under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: [email protected].

What we store and why

Anonymous player id: a random identifier in a cookie (tt_pid, httpOnly) that keeps your streak and stats. Scripts on the page cannot read it. It is not linked to your name, email or device.

Gameplay: your guesses, scores and timing, to score rounds, show statistics and crowd comparisons, and detect abuse.

Preferences: language, sound and tutorial flags in local storage, plus a language cookie (tt_locale) so pages load in your language. These are functional and stay on your device or are sent only to render the page.

Server logs: IP address and user agent for security and rate limiting, kept for at most 14 days.

Legal basis

Providing the game you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in running a secure, abuse-free service (Art. 6(1)(f)). Because we only use strictly necessary storage, no consent banner is required.

Analytics and error reports

We use a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool that counts page views and a few game events without personal identifiers. Error reports contain the error message, page path and browser version. Both run on our own servers.

Where data is stored

All data is hosted in the EU (Germany/Finland) by our hosting provider under a data processing agreement. We do not transfer data to countries without adequate protection.

Retention

Gameplay data is kept while you play. Player ids without activity for 24 months are deleted together with their gameplay data; aggregated statistics remain.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data, and object to processing. Include your player reference (shown at the bottom of the Stats page) so we can find your records. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Swiss FDPIC or your local EU supervisory authority.

Deleting your data yourself

Clearing this site’s cookies and storage in your browser removes the id from your device. Your past gameplay then stays anonymous and can no longer be linked to you.
